In just their third season as an NFL franchise, the Atlanta Braves have not only won the division twice but also the National League East title and the AL wild-card race.
The Falcons have been a major beneficiary of the team’s strong start in the first half of the season, which they have won in five of the past six games.
But it’s a team that is built to continue on the path toward an improbable championship.
“Atlanta is a team built for success, and they’re building that team with that mindset,” Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said.
“They’ve got a lot of talent, and I think they’ll do it in the right way.”
It’s been a long time since the Atlanta Hawks won a division title in their first season in the NFL.
But the franchise hasn’t lost a series since the 2012 season and has a history of winning in the postseason.
The team has been the NFC’s top seed in each of the last three seasons.
They’re now 12-0, and their record in the NFC is 11-3.
Atlanta has won six of its last eight games, including three of the five games it won this season.
The only team in the league that has lost six straight games is the Los Angeles Chargers, who are 11-5.
Ryan said he didn’t know what was happening with his team in October, but it was time to put it all together.
“I was like, ‘Wow, this team has really turned it around,’ ” Ryan said of the Falcons’ recent surge.
“We’re not just getting into the playoffs, we’re in the division finals.
We’re in a lot better position than we were.
I think it’s all about getting back to that place where we feel like we can get it done, and we’re getting there.”
The Falcons also have a new starting quarterback in Matt Ryan.

Ryan, who was a starter for five seasons, has been one of its most consistent performers since joining the team in 2016.
The quarterback, who turned 26 in March, has completed 59.5 percent of his passes and thrown for 2,913 yards with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions in seven starts.
He has been sacked 18 times, and he is tied for second in the entire NFL in passing touchdowns with 29.
Ryan is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Falcons when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
The Buccaneers are one game away from winning the NFC South for the first time since 2010.
The Panthers and Buccaneers are both in the wild-Card race, but Atlanta and Tampa Bay are playing each other for the right to play in the conference championship game.
The NFC South is divided into four divisions, with the top two seeds in each division playing each others’ playoff games.
The Atlanta Falcons will face the Tampa Lions in the Divisional Round on Sunday in St. Petersburg, Fla.
